 Sydney can be explored with a combination of walking, buses, subway or even ferries. This city, where over 4 million people reside, is comprised of a variety of neighborhoods, all of which are reachable through some form of public transportation. But for tourists, most sightseeing will take place within Central Sydney, which is easily accessible by walking.

If you’re going to be use a lot of public transportation, it’s a good idea to check out the various day passes available. There are day passes which allow for unlimited use of the ferries and buses, as well as the TravelPass which is a 7-day pass good for unlimited use of buses, trains and ferries for the 4 centermost zones. The Sydney Pass is probably best for tourists as it includes unlimited bus, train and ferry service within the basic TravelPass zone, as well as return Airport Express Service, access to the two Explorer Buses (hop-on/hop-off tour buses around the city), passage on Sydney Harbour Cruises, as well as passage on the high-speed ferries that go out to Manly Beach from Circular Quay (pronounced Circular Key).
