Girona's most celebrated festivals are about film, theater, and music.  

Taking place in the second week of October, Girona Film Festival is a little film festival that gives filmmakers and viewers the chance to watch good cinema and enjoy a beautiful city. In its 18th year, the festival has two big sections: a competition and an Off festival section that includes for 2006 edition a screening of the International Festival of Gay and Lesbian film of Barcelona, Cinema from Berlin, from Brazil and Cine a la carte. In its 13 th edition Temporada Alta is a festival that celebrates the theater and the dance. It is a truly international event. Over the first ten days of July, Girona hosts the Festival of Religious Music of the World. The festival, that features music from all over the planet and diverse religions, takes place indoors at the Auditorio-Palacio de Congresos among other venues and outdoors at the entrance of the cathedral and churches. It is an example of respect and communion among different cultures and faiths.
