One of the highlights of this city's architecture is its Gothic Cathedral. It dates from the early 15th Century and is notable for having the widest nave of all Gothic cathedrals, measuring 23 meters across. Located in the cathedral's museum are two other historic and religious relics: the Creation Tapestry and the Beatus.
Another highlight of religious architecture is the
Eglesia de Sant Feliu. Dating from the same period as the Catedral, this building features a mix of styles: Classical pillars and arches, a Gothic nave and a Baroque facade. Its bell tower is easily recognizable on the Girona skyline.
Be sure to see the ancient Arab Baths. These impressive structures were built in the 12th Century. Under current governmental control, they have been preserved, repaired and restored to their original splendor, although in the past they have been used for several private purposes depending on their ownership, including serving as a laundry room for a convent of nuns.
