We went to maui in April 2008 for our wedding. There were 11 people who came with us. We were looking for a reasonably priced place that offered full kitchens. We booked three separate condos / rooms through VRBO.com. We were very happy with all three.

Our room was a one bedroom unit on the ground floor (T-106). It had everything we needed to enjoy our week in Maui: A queen bed, A/C, two ceiling fans, two tv's, washer/dryer, two bathrooms. While we were there a new sofa arrived. I believe it was a sofa bed with a queen sized bed to pullout if you need it.

The second room (P-208) was a two bedroom condo. The two bedrooms are separated by a lockable door in case you only wanted to rent one side of it. On one side, there was a bedroom with two beds and a bathroom much like a hotel room. The other side was more like an apartment with a bedrooom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen.

The third room (G-310) was the same as the second, with a bedroom on one side, and everything else on the other. This unit has two queen beds.

They were all very clean.

It was great to have a kitchen to cut the cost of eating at restaurants every day. Each unit also had a washer and dryer which was great. There were also things like boogie boards and beach mats in the closet, which we made very good use of.

The pool / bbq area was also a bonus. Since it gets dark around 7, it was good to have the pool if we wanted to go for a swim in the evening. There were two pools, one on each end of the grounds, so we were able to pick the one that was less busy. Each pool has a big bbq beside it.

There are a few restaurants and shops within walking distance, but most of the time is was better to drive.

It does take a few minutes to walk to Kamaole II beach, but we were happy to make the short walk to a great beach.
We did not want to pay for beachfront rooms, and knew what to expect before we got there.

Overall we were very happy with our stay. Kihei was a great location to explore Maui - central on the island. The Maui Banyan helped to make our time on maui truly amazing. We are already starting to plan our return trip. And we will definitely look at staying in these rooms again if they are available.

Aloha from sunny South Maui! As the General Manager of this beautiful property I’m always happy to read positive reviews regardless of the management agent involved. In this case the Owners of these units listed are to be commended on the excellent job they did in meeting the needs of the PGDan Ohana (Family).

The Maui Banyan is truly an excellent choice for your Maui Vacation because in addition to large fully appointed apartments for your Ohana to stretch out and relax in, we are blessed with what I consider to be the best location in Kihei. We even offer several different vacation rental management options for you to choose from. Full service to limited service… the choice is yours.

I would like to sincerely thank PGDan for taking the time to share your experience, and I sincerely hope you have the opportunity to visit us again someday. Until then I wish you all the best!

Me ke aloha pumehana,

I sit here at the pool area of the Banyan after checking out from our 1 week stay. Our room was on the fifth floor and had a pretty good ocean view. Yes, you could see the parking garage below, but that was not a big deal. The room was a 1 bedroom, 2 bath condo that had dated decor, but was very clean. There was also a washer & dryer which came in handy. They provided free coffee & filters for the coffee machine. For the price we paid for this room, it was an excellent value.

There is free wireless internet access, but they charge a fee to use the safe, and charge $.60 each for local phone calls. Staff was very polite and responsive. We will definitely come back.

“A Condo more than a hotel”

We spent two nights here, in what was one bedroom of a condo suite but with private entrance to bedroom. We were in the front of the complex, but had no view of the ocean, only a vacant lot. The room was small, but clean. It was a fairly long walk to any restaurants, possibly a quarter or half a mile to the north. We drove. The beach was across a busy road. There were a lot of steps and no elevators, not a place for people with disabilities. The price was good for the area,

Aloha from sunny South Maui!

Mahalo (thank you) for your very kind words about our outstanding Housekeeping services! I am very proud of our wonderful staff and thank you for taking time to recognize the awesome job they do!

You are correct that South Kikei Road does get busy at times, but I find that most drivers tend to be very courteous towards pedestrians crossing the street to get to the Beach. And we are blessed to be located directly accross the street from one the prettiest swimming beaches you’ll find anywhere! (Kamaole II Beach Park)

“Great time in Maui”

ResortQuest at the Maui Banyan

Apr 26, 2008

Our family rented two 2 bedroom condos at the Maui Banyan in early April 2008 for two weeks. We had two babies between 7 and 8 months old. Maui Banyan accommodated us by giving us ground level floor suites, by putting our condos side by side and we were right by the pool. Both condos were clean and the staff was great. You can't beat the location, a short walk to Kamaole Beach II and many store and restaurants (Maui Taco and Baskin Robbins being favorites). With two babies we did not eat out much and we found the kitchens fully supplied with all we needed and we utilized the BBQ by the pool a lot. Aunty , the Banyan's activities director provided us excellent advice on luaus; bike ride and whale watching groups. This was our 4th family vacation to Maui and the second time staying at the Maui Banyan and we had a great time and would recommend the Maui Banyan for a family vacation. We will definitely return.

I’m glad to hear that you also took advantage of the many BBQ Grills (12ea.) on property because they tend to be a guest favorite… and I must admit I’m a regular at Maui Taco myself. The Napili Burrito with Chicken is my favorite!

My husband & I stayed @ the Banyan for 2 weeks in Jan. This was our first time to Maui and found the location great, within walking distance to many resturants and pubs.

The first night we arrived we stayed in one of the hotel rooms. It was definatly dated but it was clean. The second day we had to check out @ noon as we were booked into a time share room for the next 14 nights. The room that we got thru our friends with the time share was alot nicer. It was updated with granite countertops, newer flooring etc. It was a one bedroom with the studio blocked off. The only problem with that was we could hear the people next door come in & out of their room and slam the cupboards doors. There was a large gap underneath the ajoining door so we put our beach towels there to block out some of the noise. And yes the air conditioning units are loud. But there was everything that we needed in the room including wine glasses!

This was our first time staying in a condo and I must say that we enjoyed it very much. When we did decide to "eat in" it was alot of fun going to the bar-b-q area in the evening. This is when we really met alot of people.

The pool areas are small (there is 2 of them) but there was plenty of room for people that were relaxing in the sun. There were not many kids at the time we were around the pool it was pretty quiet, which was nice.

The grounds are well kept, staff was friendly & it is a good location. We did book a few tours thru the hotel, although you can book them at many places down the street.

If your looking for a lively place..... this is not it! We we told by some good friends that we met there....Maui midnight is 9pm that is when everyone is in bed sleeping! It was very quiet then.

We really enjoyed our stayed.
We have already booked to go back next year!

I would like to thank Raelene6 for taking the time to share your experience, and I’m sincerely glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay here on Maui… because this truly is a magical Island!

And just to clarify a few points about the Maui Banyan: ResortQuest Hawaii is the “On-site” management company. We manage 150 one & two bedroom apartments here on property and are a “full service” operator. However, there are several other smaller “limited service” vacation rental companies that manage a few units here, as well as a few Private Owners that rent their units directly via VBRO type websites. There is also a company called Consolidated Resorts that operates nineteen units that are in an Interval Ownership (Timeshare) program. However, please know that there are no timeshare sales allowed anywhere on property.

In the case of Raelene6 it sounds like you stayed in one of the Consolidated Resorts units. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and I thank you for sharing your experiences with the Trip Adviser Readership.
