We stayed at this hotel for two nights while attending a wedding. The rooms were clean and the room rates were affordable but the property is located in a rundown, somewhat desolate area without fencing around the property and no security guards. And during broad daylight a family member's vehicle's rear window was completely smashed and items stolen. According to a hotel employee, thefts occur frequently. Yet the hotel has done nothing to deal with it other than post many signs saying they're not responsible. It's too bad that they don't provide more security as the rooms were well-kept and comfortable and they had many amenities but safety should be number one in a neighborhood like that.

While planning to stay for a full week end to play at a gaming convention at the hotel my family and I checked in on a Friday afternoon. Unfortunately, what we didn't plan in our weekend was that half our luggage with my clothes still inside, my son's 9th graders school backpack with his entire years materials and books, my husband's medical breathing machine would be stolen right out of our room with the assistance of the cleaning staff. While the staff was inside cleaning our room Saturday morning (I was sitting comfortably in the lobby) a blonde-haired man walked in and said he needed to get a few things! She never questioned him for identification or even to show a room key. Well he looked, tooked, grabbed and left the hotel with our things. I discovered this around 1:00 p.m. when I felt the rooms should have been cleaned by now and wanted to switch reading materials. To my surprise when I entered the room to discover this items which were right next the T.V. missing. I franticly ran around both rooms and search and when I saw the cleaning staff down the hall I ran to ask her about it. She stated that while she was cleaning the man walked in....you now the rest. I ran downstairs to the front desk and told them half my things in my room were stolen with the help of their staff! The whole process really took off from there....it took over 4-1/2 hours to have an incident report filled out and the police to arrive. Not one individual of their staff said "they were sorry" for the situation. I suppose that this was the only thing that they were trained in...."what ever you do don't apologize because that admits guilt". Even after speaking with their manager who by the way was not a the hotel and wasn't planning on coming any time soon, finally with rage in her voice said to me, "would firing this women from her job make you feel any better?" Of course, I replied, YES! And my the standards that you keep your job and staff so should you be. I intend to spread this message far and wide thanks to the help of the internet....that should you like to have your get-away family weekend completely ruined...please stay at the Toledo Hotel & Suites....they know how to Steal you Right!

As you enter, you are in a grand size foyer, complete with sitting area. This is a nice place to enter, sit and just read a book or newspaper. I was with a group of nine others, and together we had seven rooms. Everyone was impressed how clean the rooms were. The beds are fairly comfortable, and are either king size beds or double size beds, depending on the room. Each room has a desk in a fixed location, and no moveable table,like what you may find elsewhere. All of the smokers are on certain floors, minimizing the opportunity for the non-smoker to accidently get into a smoking room. Each floor has one available suite on it, but I did not personally get a chance to see any of the suites. There is an indoor swimming pool onsite as well. A continental breakfast is served in the mornings (possibly on weekends only) that was excellent -- hot oatmeal, fresh friut, and the standard fare. The restaurant was not available for eating in the evening during our stay. The front desk help was very attentive.

The rooms we had listed out at about $80+ a night, but by calling them direct, we were able to get each room for $65 / night. The hotel is immediately north of the turnpike, on Rt 20. Very convenient. There is sufficient onsite parking for all. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone needing a quick layover. There is also plenty of eateries within an easy walk from the hotel. A CVS is right next door, in case you forgot something or need to buy snacks.

After staying at many of the 2.5-3 star hotels around/in Toledo and found many to be either dissapointing-not living up to it's own chains' standards or down right "funky"(not kept up & dirty. Whats up with Toledo anyway-I found this to be more of the norm than not. I started growing leary of my hotel bookings in this city). Anyway..... I found this hotel, The Toledo Plaza, a pleasant surprise;
First off and most important(to me)- CLEAN! Cleaner than one of the big chain hotels just down the road from them and cheaper too. And they even had a decent cont.breakfast served in the lobby each morning.
The furnishing are a little dated but nothing off putting-it's CLEAN! Shower pressure was wonderful, comfortable bed. I was there on New Years day, their little cafe was closed so I have no idea how the food fairs.
Next time a I go back to Toledo I WILL stay there again. BTW; The hotel building was once a Holiday Inn-no longer, I believe it's independently & privately owned.

Recently I spent a few days at the Toledo Plaza Hotel and Suites. I arrived at night and the hotel sign was not lit so it was a bit hard to find. I was told at the front desk that a new lit sign was to be installed soon. The staff at the desk were very freindly and informative. Many good recomendations for restaurants and activities unique to Toledo.
My room was very clean and comfortable as was the rest of the hotel. I enjoyed wireless and high speed internet that I was able to access from my room. I did feel that the hallways were a bit warm and the elevators seemed a little slow. Otherwise my stay was extremely enjoyable. The hotel is a short drive to downtown Toledo and close to a multitude of restaurants. This hotel is a good value and I would stay here again.
