Stayed here for 2 weeks after being told by several people how great it was. this was my 7th trip to Egpyt and by far not the best. the hotel is lovely but in dire need of an upgrade! chipped plates and glasses, repeated requests had to be made for towels in the room, and you have to get up at the crack of dawn for any chance of getting a sun bed, even though they are not supposed to be saved.
food was very good, but after 2 weeks you do tend to get bored with it, the italian restaurant is fantastic, food is great, chinese not as good, but ok, menu was a little confusing.
jetty is a mile long once u have walked there and back, but well worth it to see the array of fish at the bottom.
resort is massive and therefore lacks the friendliness i have found in other resorts.
the temp was 59 degrees, too hot to venture out, far hotter than El Gouna same time last year!

pools are lovely but very tired, mould around the sides comes away and floats in pool.
the kids/activity pool is lethal, good fun, but it is extremely slippery, my daughter slipped and hurt her ankle, ended up in hospital having x rays, fortunately not broken but badly sprained.
a lot of the sunbeds around this pool were broken, but you would not notice until you sit on the cushion and fall thru the hole underneath!!

for the first time ever i was counting the days to come home, boredom had set in, definate lack of atmosphere!

i think a lot of the problems were down to the other holiday makers, some foreign nationalities being extremely rude, the towel boy put towels down for us and an umbrella, when we came back half hour later, our towels were sat on and they refused to leave, we got the towel boy who told them he had put them there for us still they would not move and the manager had to be called! not the sort of hassle you need on holiday.
i left a bag for a friend that was arriving 20 mins after i left, i wrote his name on it and explained to reception, they said they would pass it over, when he arrived 20 mins later and requested it, they had no knowledge of it!!!!

lots of staff requesting that their pound coin tips were exchanged for notes, which is fine, but when they hand them over they short change you, i found this to be annoying, i have no problem giving tips, but felt this was being taken for granted especially as they had not necessarily done anything for us!!

all in all not too bad a holiday, 2 bored kids and a tired hotel when you actually look around. definately not 5 stars

We were a little worried before going to the Tropicana (or LTI as its otherwise known) Grand Azure as we had read some rather mixed comments about the place. Well, we had nothing to worry about. The complex itself is very nice and well kept. I admit that its probably getting to the age where it needs a little bit of attention, but im being picky now.
No problems with rooms, pools, eating areas etc. It is a mixed nationality hotel so you are bound to encounter different cultures and opinions and yes, the germans can be a little rude but no point getting stressed about it - we just ignored them!
Staff were excellent and very children friendly.
The beach wasnt really a place we spent alot of time as although you could sunbath, the sea was so far out that you couldnt just 'nip' into the water. We did do some snorkelling and that was fantastic. Would recommend to anyone.
I would definately go back to this hotel, especially as from Oct 2008 the place will be filled by 80% of First Choice customers.
Wish I was still there now!!!

“another fantastic holiday (2nd time at hotel)”

This was our second time at the Grand Azure. We were there the same time last year. To our suprise we meet up with many other families that had been there the same time last year too!! say no more that should give you a good indication on peoples views.

Alot of the staff remembered us from the year before they would come up to us and welcome us back. (just think how many people stay there and they remember you)

We had a great time again. Nothing more to add to my review from last year you can read that one to for more details.

This year at the main restaurant, they theme every night to a different country, food still as good.

No probs this year down at Namma Bay with the shop keepers
(last year was terrible).

Many shopping malls have opened up in the area outside the hotel to the right as you go through the main enterance. Also just outside to the right is a little supermarket 24/7 it is called this is a great little shop with really friendly staff very cheap 1 litre of coke for 47p!!!! 200 cigs for £8 also good for kids toys, lilos, pool shoes, buckets and spades so you dont have to take them with you.

The area has changed so much in 1 year and for the better, also another good thing is no more buildings can go up. So no more hotels or malls are to be built, what is there has to be finished
and that is it.

A great hotel a lovely location. I am happy to go back next year!!

If you like to do what you want when you want in the sun (hot)with great pools, a fab waterpark, a great area for snorkling and diving, good food great cakes!!!! lovely people, relaxation then this hotel is where you should be going.

We are a family 2 adults 2 children aged 11 and 4 that may help some people and any Q's please feel free to ask.

you can see some pics and videos if you click onto my profile. And if you go get some Acidophilus tablets they help.

stayed at grand azure 7/7/08 for 2 weeks & i must say was really concerned by reviews but i needn't of worried one bit, the hotel is awesome, the staff fantastic & can't do enough for you.
Stayed in block 14 next to main pool fantastic views, top floor.
The food was very good with plenty of choice even if a fussy eater you could get a good meal every day well prepared & presented could not fault either the speciality Italian or the main buffet.
Yes we did have the dreaded tummy bug all 3 of us for approx 24 hrs went to pharmacy & were sorted out, i truely don't believe this was down to the food but climate 59 degrees several days & the extra water intake we are not use too, we did take the recomended precautions of no ice, salads & dressing etc & still suffered slightly but no blame on hotel.
The health club was excellent & well recomend the massage great value for money if you barter & hold out !!
The lobby is awesome & spent many evenings enjoying a cold beer with thehelp of the very good & friendly waiters ( cheers mate ) lol.
Entertainment was as per the caribean so we new what to expect & gave it a miss & enjoyed ourselves.
Fully enjoyed this holiday & would return tomorrow met plenty of people who were returning having been before so speaks volumes.
On arrival we found we had been up graded free from superior to junior sweet so thank you Lti foe an excellent room & holiday, we will be back.

stunning hotel right on the beach, it is one of the nicest resorts I've ever been to and I've travelled to about 30 countries (see map). The resort itself is the size of a small village and everything about it says 'class'. I travelled with a another single friend and we planned on just drinking & eating for the 7 days which is exactly what we did. there are so many bars my favourite was I think the terrace and my favourite bar man 'Shawky' he was so polite and friendly to all the guests, in fact the egyptians are generally friendly. We only left the resort 3 times in total to have a shop around and go into Naama bay in the evening and we didn't get much hassle as you can tend to do in other countries. Some great bargains too, don't be fooled onto buying the pictures or fall for the the stories that poor family members have made them they are prints!

We found we couldn't wait to get back to the hotel though for the atmosphere. The buffet restaurant was lovely they had a corner for most european food, i.e french, german, english Italian etc... mainly english & Italian guests. Didn't eat in the a la carte but other guests said it was very nice.

Rooms were great really clean and spacious, wish we would have upgraded to a suite.

Best day out was to Tiran Island it's not really a popular trip but it is the best for snorkelling & diving. St. Catherines monastery is a must too, and if you've never been on a camel before you must do it in Egypt.

We liked it that much that we purposely missed our flight home and stayed on another 3 days, the staff found this hilarious and were very accommodating, especially Hanny the sales manager as we were also there on a bit of business.

Alot of the hotels in Sharm are of this quality but when I return I will stay here again!
