We stayed at the Riverside before and after a cruise from Prague to Potsdam. Our first stay was two nights, and the second, one. Ont he first stay we booked a hotel package that included round trip transfers to the hotel, a candlelight dinner in a Prague restaurant, and breakfast. On the second one we just had bed and breakfast.
The first impression of this hotel was the extreme friendliness of the staff. We were greeted as we left the car, and everyone introduced themselves and made us very welcome. The person at the desk took a lot of time to go over our plans for our stay and was extremely helpful with information, travel hints etc etc. The dinner was at the Modre Kachniky (Blue Duck) in the Little Quarter. It was excellent and a great way to start our first time in Prague.
Our room overlooked the river, although as it was only on the 2nd floor, there were a fair number of trees too! It was on the smallish side, but well furnished. The only thing we both disliked was the glass door to the bathroom!!
At the end of our stay, instead of taking us to the airport, the hotel took us to our boat.
I asked the hotel to arrange a pick up for us at the station on our return and not only was the car waiting, but the hotel confirmed it to me a couple of minutes before we got to Prague on my cell phone. This is service!! Our room this time was on the 4th floor, and very spacious. But it had the same glass doors to the bathroom!!
I should mention the breakfasts. There is a breakfast room in the basement - light and cheery with what seems to be a live view of the bridge and the priver projected onto a wall. A wonderful lady runs the breakfasts. She greets you, mothers you, and gets you whatever you like. You can have a Bucks Fizz as well if you want. (!) What impressed me - aside from this lovely lady - was the fact that the buffet is laid out with small dishes of many things. These are replenished constantly, so everything is always as fresh as possible. I really liked this.
The hotel is a 20 minute walk along the river from the Charles Bridge. About the same from Wenceslas Square. And I don't walk too fast! So it is convenient, yet the area is relatively quiet and one does not see hordes of tourists on the streets around.
I recommend this hotel without hesitation and when we return to Prague we will definitely stay there again!!
