Good and cheap. That makes great value. The rooms are comfortable and nicely furnished. The whole place has a boutique feel, and has great, personal service that one can expect from these small hotels.
The location is convenient, with a rail station and bus stop nearby. Although in the King's Cross area, it is off the main night life strip.
Only letdown was the simple breakfast, though the hotel never touts itself as a B&B. Anyway, there are more than enough eating places nearby.

We loved the Altamont! The staff was wildly helpful when we had to make last-minute changes. The rooms are very hip--do book the Tower Room if you can.

We had a wonderful stay at this unique beautique hotel. We stayed in the family room which although simply furnished was very comfortable and accomodated the six of us with ease. Alan was extremely helpful and a wealth of knowledge about Sydney and the local restaurants. (Eat Thai a couple blocks over was wonderful) For the exercise concious, the hotel is within 15-25 minutes walking distance of many major sights. For those inclined to take the city transportation the access to a bus stop is just around corner and the CityRail underground station is just a block or so away. The agents at the CityRail station were also wonderful help and very friendly. This is a great place to stay for the cost conscious traveler.

This is an absolute little gem of a place in Darlinghurst Sydney.

I was impressed when I made the reservation and even more so when I arrived - Really friendly and helpful staff and management.

A budget hotel it may be but it far surpassess many other rated properties I have stayed in around the world !

The hotel is well situated with loads of great coffee shops and restaurants a few minutes away.

The rooms are a good size, spotless and totally comfortable.

The decor is contemporary and stylish and I spent a very happy 6 days there.

HIGHLY recommend this one - would stay there again and again
