Using their hotel internet site I directly booked a Harbour Bridge view (Floor Level 10-16). The initial booking was for 4 nights but our Air New Zealand flight was cancelled. I rang them to tell them we would be a day late which was no problem - no penalty charge.
On arrival we were assigned a King Size bed on the 10th floor. The bedroom and view were lovely but unfortunately at a quarter past eight in the morning renovation work on a room nearby meant that it was impossible to relax.
A receptionist explained that the workers weren't supposed to start before 9 in the morning. Even so I requested a change of room and we were assigned a room on the 16th floor with 2 double beds. A porter moved our suitcases and gave us programmed entry cards for the new room.
The renovation work was still quite noisy on the 16th floor but not as bad. The view had improved though and Sydney Harbour Bridge could now be clearly seen (without a nearby construction crane obscuring it).
When we went back to our hotel room in the afternoon for a siesta once again there was drilling including a hammer drill and sometimes two drills at once - quite a din! The only remedy was to listen to music on a radio.
The following morning the drilling started well before 9 o'clock again. The third morning we had to be up early to get the A380 morning flight to Singapore so at least we missed the drilling noise.
I don't regret staying in this hotel but I wouldn't recommend it until the renovation work is complete.
