“Friendly staff & very clean”

Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Saskatoon

Apr 9, 2008

I came into S'toon to watch the Foo Fighters, when I rolled into the hotel lobby with my luggage, the man behind the counter was so friendly and helpful... I felt like I was very special. He asked me what floor I wanted to sleep on and what "end" of the hotel I would like. He then told me to help myself to cookies or fruit (all free of charge) and to check out the breakfast in the morning as it's just "excellent".

I had such a nice relaxing time there... I will go again.

This place isn't, in my opinion, a place for kids as they don't have a pool... but it was a quality place to stay for someone who just needs a quiet clean friendly place to lay their head for the night.

“Gone down hill, "non-smoking" room was not”

Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Saskatoon

Aug 24, 2007

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times in the last 10 years, and after this last experience I will not stay here again. On the first stay, the first room we were given was not even made up. The garbages were full, and the dirty bedding and towels were still on the floor. It was a also non-smoking room, that smelled of smoke. When I went back to the desk, they gave us a second room, and this one was clean and nonsmoking. On our return trip, we had a reservation here, and when we arrived our non smoking room was VERY smoked in. We requested a different room, but were told that no others were available. They offered us air freshener! Not much help with smoke. Since it was late on a Saturday night we chose not to try and find an alternate hotel .We spent the night with the window open, and the bathroom fan running. Spend the next day with very sore sinuses from the smoke.

The breakfast area is too small with the tables very close together. You will find your self constantly asking people to move in order to get any thing a breakfast.

“Fair Value for the price”

We stayed at the Saskatoon Country Inn & Suites July 18 - 23/06. We found the hotel to be a fair value for the money. ($99/night AAA price) We wanted a 1 bedroom suite which is a pretty good size because we were going to be there for 5 nights.

Pros:

Breakfast is decent: hot & cold cereals, toaster waffles and french toast, hard boiled eggs, bagels, toast, muffins, sliced citrus fruits and melon, coffee & tea.
Free wireless internet which worked great
Hotel was very clean and tidy.
Front office staff was fine to deal with.

Cons:
no swimming pool or whirlpool, airconditioners are loud - we had to turn off overnight or we couldn't sleep. The fridge in the suite is TINY - maybe 1 or 2 cubic feet. The other problem we had was that our card keys needed to be reset 3 times in 5 days!

***Be aware that the outside of the hotel has been upgraded and looks like new but the inside is clearly not a new property.*** Also note that the hotel doesn't really have any grounds (like a patio or courtyard) and the hotel rooms don't have balconies.

Another couple travelling with us said their room was VERY dark and they didn't really like to stay in the room. Our room had light coloured furniture and the window was in the bedroom so that room was light and bright, the inside room was quite dark even during the day with the bedroom door open as wide as possible.

Would I stay there again? Probably not since there are other properties in the same price range which are nicer or have better facilities.

“Big Bang for the Buck”

Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Saskatoon

My partner, his two teenage sons, and I stayed in this hotel on July 1, 2005.

We had two rooms, a standard room with 2 double beds and an executive with king size bed. The latter included internet hook-up, some office supplies, and better quality and more toiletries. Both rooms had a CD player and a coffee maker. A large selection of new release CDs are offered free of charge in a vending machine in the lobby. One must have a credit card for a security deposit.

A light breakfast is included (bread, bagels, muffins, jams, peanut butter, cream cheese, juice, yogurt, cold cereal, hard boiled eggs, toaster waffles, juice, hot chocolate, fruit, and coffee), as well as the local newspaper and the National Post. Additionally, complimentary current best selling paperback books are also offered. Guests may take these with them and keep them, or return them to another Country Inn, in which case a charitable donation will be made by the hotel.

The hotel also has a fitness centre with up-to-date equipment.

The hotel is well kept and the rooms are very clean. The decor is a little hokey but in keeping with the hotel's "country" theme.

We paid slightly over $80.00 each for both rooms and considered it tremendous value.

Although we have previously selected Country Inns only for affordable travel with kids, my partner was so impressed with the executive room in Saskatoon that he said he'd consider it for business travel in the fuure in lieu of the Bess or Radisson.

Found the web site and got a great deal by booking online. One draw back is the penalty for cancelling.
Every other weekend, last summer, my son and I were in Saskatoon for field lacrosse. The Country Inn and Suites was a wonderful place to come back to after a hot day in the sun. The staff were great and the rooms were very clean. I was most impressed by the continential breakfast, I could enjoy the peace and quiet until my son got up.
Each room had a small fridge and you could get free movies in the lobby. Will definitely stay here again this summer during lacrosse season!!!
