We were a family of 4 adults on a tour of Western Canada by hire car and we wanted to stay at West Edmonton at the end of our 2 weeks solely to do some shopping and sightseeing at the West Edmonton Mall before flying back via Toronto to the UK. I booked through Expedia.

First challenge was finding the place. In the end I had to stop at a general store and buy a street map and even then it was not too easy because of the one-way system.

On arrival there was plenty of parking. Sadly this was one of the very few places on our long journey through ever-friendly Canada where customer service was completely lacking; it was as is the reception staff could not have cared less. For example, I asked for a guide to the West Edmonton Mall and the staff would not help me. In the end I walked over to the Holiday Inn opposite and the contrast was stark; they could not have been more helpful despite the fact I was not one of their guests.

The rooms were fine and reasonable value for money. They were a fair size, had comfy beds, the usual coffee maker and a big TV with lots of cable channels. We chose to eat out both nights - there are lots of family restaurants within easy walking distance. There was also some all-male convention staying in the Inn and we had to put up with other fairly drunk guests in the lift. I would advise that you should not try to walk to the West Edmonton Mall; the distance does not look far on the map but the route is not very pedestrian friendly and the roads are very busy. We drove and there is masses of parking at the Mall.

When we came to check our early morning en route to the airport we could not initially find anyone on reception. If ever we go back to West Edmonton we will be trying the Holiday Inn instead, or staying at one of the hotels in the Mall.

We stayed at this hotel March 15-19 2006. I have to say we were very disappointed. When we arrived we literally had to remake the bed, it looked as though it had already been slept in. The mattress pad was all bunched up under the sheet. I did mention this to the front desk the next morning and when we arrived back at the hotel in the evening we had to remake the bed again. Also the bed was in terrible condition, it sagged in the middle, I don't think this should happen when a hotel is only 2 years old.
The one review about no water is pretty close to being correct. The water pressure is terrible, the shower trickles.
We won't stay here again.

I travel to Edmonton regularly on business and have stayed at this hotel regularly for a year now. I spent three nights at the hotel this week and it continues to impress me with it's level of professional service and accomodation.
I had the opportunity to stay a Spa Suite this week. The suite had a bedroom with a jacuzzi, a washroom with a corner shower and a great room with a fireplace, 16 foot ceiling and kitchen. There was a king sized bed with an wonderful, firm mattress(it seemed almost new). The bedroom was away from the street and was quiet and dark. There was no noise from the hallway.
I used the jacuzzi two nights after exercising. There was no shortage of very hot water for the tub and I got to relax afterward in a bathrobe provided by the hotel. It was a great way to unwind after a day of business.
I lost power to the living room area briefly one night and when I contacted the front desk, one of agents immediately came up to my floor and reset the breaker just down the hall. There was no wait and no inconvenience.
The onsite restaurant continues to increase their service level by hiring more staff. The restaurant manager noticed and remembered this morning that my meal wasn't served quite the way that I usually have it. She took it back to the kitchen and had it prepared again. This kind of special treatment is very rare in this busy time and it made me feel important to the hotel.
As I was checking out this morning, the Sales Director phoned the desk to ask me about my stay. This isn't unusual for her. The hotel has a relatively young, professional and very eager group of dedicated people committed to making your stay pleasant and enjoyable.
I thoroughly enjoy my stays here and would recommend the hotel to any business traveller.

While staying at the days inn and suites in west edmonton, we experienced a few problems with the water. This hotel is very nice and clean, but the water issues were very annoying. There was no water! When you would turn on the tap or the shower, there would be a trickle of water come out. Not even enough to wet your head! When we called the front desk, they were aware of the problem and said that it was something to do with EPCOR and the newly developed area of west edmonton. We were compensated by getting $40.00 off our bill, working out to be $20.00 for each night we stayed. We will not stay here again!
