“Nice Hotel, clean, easy acess to Marina shops and Restaurants.”

Flamingo Vallarta Resort & Marina

Feb 22, 2008

Beautiful clean quaint property, very Mexican. Convenient to Airport and Bus stops and walking distance around Marina.
Restaurants are BAD, not sure if they are leased out or ran by Hotel. Staff are rude and impersonal. Free Continental breakfast is cold toast and fruit. (Only ate the first day)
Hotel staff are wonderful! Lilianna (Desk), Luis (Bellman) and Naomi (Room attendant). Very helpful and attententive to our needs.
Victor's Bar and Restaurant around the other end of the Marina is so much fun. $1.50 beers and a free shot of tequila with every purchase. Staff there are funny and entertaining, food is also very good.
Watch out for Timeshare Vultures, they are coming out of the woodwork.

We were coming into Puerto Vallarta 1 day early and since our reservations for the Mayan Palace were not until Friday, we decided to stay at the Flamingo Vallarta the Thursday night we arrived.

We arrived into Puerto around 9:30 PM and after getting into the taxi, we were on our way. Not knowing anything about the area, when the taxi driver started going down a back road that was not lit up very well, we got a little nervous, but we turned a corner and we were there. Nice little hotel, check in was no problem. We booked through vallartaonine.com and paid beforehand and we did not have any issues.

The room was fair, actully a very large shower. Could not get the A/C to work properly, but since we were there only 1 night, we did not worry about it. We went down to the bar to have a drink and only got a couple, apparently everything closes pretty early there, so don't plan on a big night out at the hotel.

We walked around the marina the next morning and ate at Mr. Cream's Pancakes and Waffles, was a good breakfast.

We headed off to the Mayan after that. All in all, not a bad hotel, since we were not there very long, did not spend a lot of time checking everything out.

This hotel is just darling. It is pretty, tranquil, exquisitely clean and the hotel staff are some of the very best. We stayed at the Mayan Palace previously and it was very nice for a "plastic holiday." The Flamingo Vallrata, however, had more to offer in local charm and ease of getting around. All staff spoke English and they knew us by name and cared about our experiences.

The small pool was beautiful, but the lounge chairs were not as comfortable as at the Mayan. It was great watching small family groups enjoying the sun and the water. We were so close to the ocean that we had a lot of fun walking the beaches and snorkeling. We had easy access to sea ventures, horseback riding, trips to the mines, mountain trips, island trips and more. We never missed a larger pool.

Breakfasts overlooking the harbor was just beautiful and very relaxing. Again, the staff knew us by name and cared about our experiences not only at the hotel, but in our ventures outside of the hotel.

Our balcony overlooked beautiful yachts along the harbor, but we were protected from the vendors hawking condo stays. Our view was great wherever we went. The hotel staff was very accommodating and exquisitely helpful. The massage therapist really knew what she was doing - A#1. If needed, there is doctor's office on site and an American clinic within two blocks.

For the price, We would choose this place any time. We definitely will stay here the next time we visit. We loved it.

I stayed at this hotel the night I arrived in Puerto Vallarta and again the night before I departed which was 8 days later. I had prepaid reservations for 1 room each night but decided to rent a second room so that I had more beds for my family. Upon returning home and examining my credit card statements 2 months later, I saw that I was double charged for the extra room the first time I came through the hotel and that I was overcharged far more (in excess of $300) the second time I came through the hotel. One credit card company (i.e., bank) reversed the first errant charge but the second overcharge is still under investigation by a different credit card company.

I saw that several other TripAdvisor reviewers had warned of credit card overcharges at this hotel before I decided to use my credit cards, however, after seeing how nice the people at the front desk were, I thought it almost surely wouldn't happen to me. I was wrong.

rooms are ok, but the breakfast was poor with rude staff (no way to change the strawberry mermelade by other flavor or honey) I change 100 euros against 1200pesos (right change should be around 1400 pesos) yves MOINE
