My mother (aged 77) and I aged (43) stayed here for a week and had a great time! I left hubby and my teen sons at home and got a last minute deal. The hotel is older but kept up and very clean. The staff are amazing and very accomodating. We were on the second floor the first couple nights but with my request they moved us to the main floor with a pool view.
The food was good and the a la cart was great! I had a striploin steak that was as good as any Albertan beef, Mom had the salmon which she said was very good and too much for her to eat. The cleaning staff always left us towel animals and I tipped them daily (a couple bucks). The activities staff always tried to get everyone involved, the beach volleyball games were great!
There isn't a disco there but everynight at 10pm, the activities staff would meet the clubbers in the lobby and for about $40-$50 dollars they would head to a specific club and have all their drinks included. Some were dancing till 4am. This was a great system as the families and older people could sleep soundly. The security staff made sure it was quite after midnight.
There were many mexican families and couples staying there. The rest of the group were mainly Canadian. This was my first time in Mexico that I didn't stay beach front and actually didn't mind. The beach club, a block and a half away was really great as there is a palapa bar/restaurant as well as lounge chairs and canopys. The surf was pretty large and I didn't see anyone take out the kayaks or boogie boards, but they were there, none the less.
The hotel is located near the marina, Walmart and Sams club. The local busses to the malecon and old town, stops right out front of the Hacienda. The ride is 55 cents and pretty entertaining!
I went along with some other Albertans on the Shamballa boat tour to Los Arcos to snorkel, Quimixto to the waterfalls and Las Animas beach for lunch. Drinks were included on the boat. We were gone from 10am till 6pm. The entire trip was $30 dollars and we booked that right at the hotel. A great bargain!
I would definately stay here again! No, its not a 5 star, but a great little mexican hotel with wonderful staff!
