“Not recommended”

Romora Bay Club

We stayed at Romora Bay back in 2004. The hotel itself is very eclectic in decor (which some might like) but in need of some serious upkeep.

I can overlook everything to do with decor and upkeep about the hotel since I am not one to complain, except I had a very unpleasant experience with the hotel owner, Mr. Lionel.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel along with our son (six years old at the time). My son stutters when he speaks (speech problem). Well one night we were at the restaurant and the owner passed by our table. The conversation started nice, but then he asked my son a question, which my son attempted to respond but started to stutter. Not a word of a lie when I tell you that the owner proceeded to make fun of my son by starting to stutter himself and then broke out laughing. I was hurt and disgusted all at once.

Thankfully my son did not notice this man's rude and despicable behavior, but it will be an experience that I will never forget.

Beware of the owner and from the other reviews I have read, it appears that his inappropriate behavior has no limits.

We went back to Romora Bay recently and were so pleasantly surprised by the changes. The hotel has recently changed hands and the new owners really seem to be putting a lot of time and money into the property. The property is as beautiful as ever with great views of the bay and the sunsets. The buildings have all been painted with gorgeous Island colors and there is even a new beach down in front of the pool - which is a great option when it is too windy on the other side of the island.

The room we had was terrific, new towels, linens and furniture - it also appeared to be freshly painted. In speaking with one of the owners I learned that they are also planning to put a full kitchen down at the bar on the waterfront. That is really a great idea, it is already the best place on the island to enjoy a drink and watch the sunset but you could never get anything to eat.

We definetely will go back to Romora Bay and highly recommend it.

My wife and I stayed at Romora Bay Club over New Year's and for the most part we had a great experience. The hotel room could have used a little work, but in light of the recent hurricanes and great room rate it worked fine for us.

We ate dinner at the hotel the first night and the food was very good. We chose to strike out on our own after that and decided on Ma Ruby's (Cheeseburgers of course), Arthur's Bakery, and a take-out barbeque place on Dunmore St. . . . the name escapes me right now. Lunch at the Romora Bay Club bar overlooking the water was very good, but limited to sandwiches.

We stayed a total of 5 days, rented a golf cart on 1 day and walked the island the remaining time. The island is easily walkable but it's nice to have a golf cart to load up on bottled water, etc.

We would definitely stay at the Romora Bay Club again . . . great views, good food, an easy walk to Dunmore. Best of all it's a very short walk to the pink sands.

“Most Amazing Wedding!”

Romora Bay Club

Sep 4, 2004

I don't even know where to start! My family and I discovered Romora Bay almost a year ago and from day one, they have been nothing but helpful! We were planning a wedding and weren't sure exactly what hotel to have it at. We took a few trips during the year to Harbour Island and the service and hospitality we received at Romora Bay surpassed all of our other options! We knew immediately, this was the place! Christine, the manager at Romora Bay, was such a delight to work with! She always kept in touch with us and updated us frequently on the wedding plans! She helped us and our guests with organizing events, dinners, and golf cart rentals. We never had a single worry with her running everything! She is excellent at what she does and expects the same from her staff! My dad just couldn't believe how amazing the staff was throughout the weekend long event! He was so pleased by their efforts, that he gave every single staff member a bonus the day we left! We truly felt that every single staff member at Romora Bay bent over backwards to make that entire weekend such a special event! I could go on and on about the staff, but I must move on to the cuisine! Fabrice Gomet is the most amazing chef! Every meal we have had a Romora Bay has been out of this world! Our wedding was 2 months ago and our guests still talk about the dinner! You must try his chocolate mousse! Every trip we've taken to Romora Bay, we've begged Fabrice to make the chocolate mousse! He laughs, but of course whips up a batch that is even more fabulous than the time before! When you leave Romora Bay, you feel like you are leaving family! We still keep in touch with Christine, Fabrice, their adorable little girl, and the wonderful staff at Romora Bay and we will continue to visit year after year! We cannot thank them enough for everything they have done! We will always have the fondest memories of Romora Bay!

In my opinion the Romora Bay Club is the most underrated Resort on the island. The location is beautiful and the bay view is outstanding. The staff ever so helpful and courteous and very attentive to even the smallest request.
The meals are world class and the menu changes every day and each day it is better then the last.
The manager (Christine) makes you feel welcome, comfortable and sorry to leave.
If you want an enjoyable, relaxing vacation Romora Bay is your best choice.
