We went to Hawks Nest for the week of Christmas 2007 with our two small kids and extended family. We had a fabulous time. The resort is perfect for all sorts. Couples, families, and kids. The hosts JR and Randy, are so helpful and nice. The resort is in an awesome location. You get the best of both worlds with a beach, marina, creek and if you fly your own plane an airstrip. They have bikes, kayaks and snorkling equipment you can use at your will to go explore the surrounding island on land or sea. We had been one time before in 2004 and it keeps getting better. We had folks that ranged from 5 years old to 60 years old and everyone was very content and entertained. We can't wait to back. The staff treats you like family and the other guests are usually very friendly. I highly recommend it if you like to hang out and relax or play outside in the sun!

If you want a get away, with some good diving then this is the place to head for. Only 10 rooms, all practically on the beach, and in a private estate of some 50 acres that means there is no one to bother you.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner, are delicious and plentiful, we ended up having one lunch between us the portions were so large.
The rooms had plenty of space, and a fridge to keep you drinks and the such like cool and air con to keep you cool. With you own private patio to sit out on.
Please bear in mind if you consider Hawks Nest that other than diving, snorkelling, swimming and fishing, the only other thing to do is relax in the peace and quiet in your hammock. How good is that?
We booked the accomodation, and flight with Cat Island Air through Majestic Tours in Nassau, who where excellent.

“+comfort but -for beach”

Hawk's Nest Resort and Marina

we recently stayed in Cat Island for 5 days.
The hotel chosen was the hawks nest, located at the extreme south west of the island.
The island is definitely a great place if you're looking for tremendous virgin white/pink sand beach, but just be informed that the standard picture you could expect may be false if you don't make the right choice.
Hawks nest is comfortable and very well equipped, but the beach is small and artificial. The pool is nice but they probably forgot that cleaning is sometimes necessary.
The price is very high compared to the level of service offered, and you should be careful to the invoice before paying (3 mistakes for ours ...).
Finally, after making a little comparison, the Greenwood beach resort (south east) is much more prettier, the beach is wonderful, and the prices are more reasonable.

“Beautiful water, great snorkeling, very quiet while we were there”

Hawk's Nest Resort and Marina

My friend & I stayed 7 nights at the Hawk's Nest. This island is not heavily populated and the roads are not the smoothest but we had a great time. The Hawk's Nest sits on a beautiful stretch of beach. It looks like the commercials you see on tv for beautiful quiet beaches with calm clear bluest of blue waters. We went snorkeling by the yellow house on the point and it was beautiful. A little rough getting in the water off the rocks but just swim to the left of the yellow house close to the shore in the middle of the mouth of the water that leads into the marina and you will see beautiful fish. I highly recommend the Hawk's Nest for a relaxing vacation if you are trying to get away from the hustle of a big crowded resort.

In February 2005, my husband and I went to Hawks Nest Resort on Cat Island in the Bahamas. We wanted a place where we could relax in a hammock on the beach. This was the place! The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We had the meal plan and the food was first rate! If you want to get away from everything this is the place to do it!
Bikes are available and well as scuba diving and some good snorkeling. All this is outside your door.
The couples who run the place were pleasant and made sure you had everything you needed. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary which was made special by the champagne we found in our room on the day of our anniversary!
We are looking forward to going back.
