Haven't even traveled yet and I have already decided that I will never stay here again. I booked a trip to Atlantis in July for a long weekend in late August. About a week after I booked my reservation, I received an email promotion that was offering the same room on the same days for HALF of what I paid. I called Atlantis expected them to either match the new rate or offer me something. The initial representative said that there was nothing that she could do. My only choice was to cancel the existing reservation which she said would cost $1,000 and rebook the promotional rate. I then talked to a "manager" who was probably the rudest and insulting person I have ever dealt with. Her attitude was "too bad" "sucks for you" "nothing I can do" all in the meanest and most condescending way. Then she hung up on me!
Never had a trip start off so bad before I even left!!

We booked my GF's 50th birthday at the Atlantis. I called a casino host and had the rooms comped in advance along with airport pick-up. We arrived at the airport at the given time and saw a man holding a sign that said"Atlantis' I gave him my name and within 5 minutes a stretch limo arrived. We asked the driver to stop at a supermarket because the comments on trip advisor scared us about the cost of snacks and water. He agreed giving us 5 min to shop. We bought basics ae bananas, grapes water, juice, chips and iced tea.
we arrived at the hotel at 12:30 knowing full well that check in wasn't until 3:00PM. After giving my name to the front desk we were told that we had a reservation for a double on the third floor non-smoking and no balcony. My jaw dropped as I showed the gal my confirmation of "high floor, water view, king, smoking w/balcony". she showed me the fine print that stated that that was our preference only. I begged her to reconsider as it was a very special birthday and we really needed the comforts. she apologized and told us "I can't give you what I don't have"
deciding to resort to plan "B" I put my wallet on the counter and asked that she look again and I promised to make it worth her while. Suddenly as if by miracle she found a mini sweet on the 12th floor king size with 2 balconies.but we needed to wait until 3:00PM..... Looks as though they've discovered the American way.
I asked the bellhop if there was a safe place to put my computer and he took me to the lockers behind the bell desk using my key to lock the door.
After walking a bit we returned to the desk to get our room number and were very happy with the suite. Next thing I needed was a fridge so I wandered out into the hallway and found a chamber maid. I asked her what I needed to do to get a fridge and she told me to call housekeeping and that I would be charged 415 additional per day. I told her it wasn't that important and she quickly found me one within 2 minutes and $5.00.
We went to eat at Anthony's and were not overly impressed, next morning we ate at Murray's deli and thoughrouly enjoyed the food but not the prices. Foe dinner we went into town to an area called fish fry and the cab driver recommended cafe 101. Although we were reluctant to eat there after, walking around to the other places we went back and have a very enjoyable native meal.
next day we went to town and ate across the street from the hilton at "Conch Fritters" and once again had a very enjoyable meal. The last night we went all out and ate at the famous Nobu located on the casino floor and ordered the chiefs signature meal at $150 per. we were not at all disappointed.
Over all I need to say that this was the best vacation I ever had. Everybody was pleasant, friendly and made us feel comfortable. One evening at the Casino I lost a very heavy gold and diamond bracelet but, didn't realize it until the next morning. I called hotel security and they told me to try casino security first. After explaining my situation and giving a detailed description of the bracelet, I was told to come down and claim it. never would've happened back in the states.
Room tax was $26.50 per person per night but, being that that's all I paid for excluding tips I got away cheap.
I had such a great time I'm going back in 2 weeks with my children.................
I must add that I did the "Current "every day and felt as though I died and went to heaven. If you lay on your back instead of standing in the tube, it's very difficult if not impossible to get hurt. don't deny yourself a preview to Heaven. I also would like to add that the casino was very generous to me............See you all there

Atlantis is a beautiful resort with some flaws. The grounds are magnificent. The swim areas are the best I have ever seen. Families with children especially those with children that love water and are over 48"(height to ride slides) should never be bored here. Even my husband who is not into swimming pools very much enjoyed the slides and river current pools etc. There were always plenty of lounge chairs poolside and it never felt crowded. The ocean is calm and beautiful. I had a great time, that being said I do want to point out a couple of flaws. I would not pay extra to stay at the Royal towers. Our room was expensive and not that great. The bathroom was at the point of needing some sprucing up. One evening the water coming out of the faucet to the tub turned yellow. The room though ample in size was definitely not spectacular. It suprises me that as expensive as the rooms are there isn't a balcony to sit on. You could open the door and step outside but no room for a chair. One of my favorite things to do in the morning and evening is to sit outside on the balcony .Another thing that surprised me was that a resort of this caliber ran out of towels for the rooms. We went an entire day until about 8:30 p.m. with no clean towels for our room. My husband asked approximately 6 times for towels one day. They kept telling him they would send some up. Finally late in the evening they showed up with washclothes! Kind of funny but not what we needed. When my husband went down to the front desk they said unfortunately running out of room towels was a fairly common occurence. Food and drink on the property were extremely pricey. My husband went into town and bought some soda and water but you can not use the room fridge to keep them cold. If you move anything in their fridge you get charged as if you got something out of the mini bar. We used the ice bucket. The food at Carmines was excellent and enormous portions. It is served family style only but worth it if you have enough people to share. The fries near the baths pool are great. The staff we encountered at the Atlantis were okay but most not overly friendly. There were some exceptions. The housekeeper named Pamela in the Royal Towers West was extremely nice and friendly. I wish more of the staff had her excellent attitude. Not to say the staff was rude just not the extremely outgoing friendly type that I have experienced at other resorts. My adult children ages 24 and 21 absolutely loved the deep water Dolphin encounter. They have done dolphin encounters a couple of times before and said this was their favorite. Expensive but definitely worth it. They also said the dolphin trainer they worked with was great. All in all we had a great time.

“15th Anniversary Surprise”

My husband and I just returned from Atlantis. This was a surprise gift from my husband for our 15th Wedding Anniversary. I opened the curtains every morning to look out my window at paradise. Pictures cannot explain how beautiful it is at Atlantis. We stayed in the Royal Towers. Everyone was very friendly. Rooms were very clean. The food prices are a little high but come on you are at a beautiful resort you have to expect it. The only complaint is that the outdoor activities stop at 5:00pm. It would have been nice to sit outside and enjoy instead of inside at the casino or lounges. Overall we cannot wait to go back. We actually hope to get a time share at Atlantis.

“Great Resort - Poor Service!”

Atlantis Royal Towers

Aug 8, 2008

My wife and kids age 13 and 10 stayed at the Atlantis Resort, Royal Towers August 2nd - 6th. The property is gorgeous, the room was very clean albeit no larger than your normal Courtyard or Fairfield Inn property. The kids had a great time at the park and on the beach, everything was clean and well maintained throughout. Basically Disney experience for kids in a water park format. That is where the positive attributes end.

The employees of the resort and all eateries attached thereto without exception were clearly not happy to be there. If you are going to charge premium room rates and egregious food prices, at least smile at me when I am paying you! All concession stands in the park ceased serving at 5:30 pm so you could not lounge at the beach or pool with snacks or drinks after that time. Not convenient when you simply want to chill on vacation in a relaxed, casual setting with the family.

Dinner options where plentiful but notably expensive. $42 Salmon, $56 steak etc. However, every food/drink item you purchase automatically garnered a 15% gratuity so the employees had no incentive to provide anything that resembles, prompt, courteous service so you don't experience any. Order a $14 hamburger and have it practically thrown at you and what is your recourse if you cannot withhold on the tip? Every person we experienced appeared as though we were infringing on their time and they were simply entitled to a wage for just showing up. We averaged nearly $400 per day in food for simply average at best food. Prior to our visit we reviewed Trip Advisor thoroughly and tried to set our expectations accordingly but we obviously did not set them low enough.

I would not recommend this resort to a friend nor the Bahamas itself. We have traveled extensively to several Caribbean countries and this experience was the worst by far.
