We looked at many locations for our Carribean wedding in April 2008 before deciding on Sandals Negril. We arrived in Jamaica to receive a warm Jamaican welcome at the airport in Sandals own hospitality suite at the airport before transferring to resort. The transfer took approximately 90mins but there was some stunning scenery on route and the time passed quickly by. We met Alan and Sheila (also from the UK) on the minibus and this was their 3rd visit to Sandals and they could not praise it enough. We were greeted "Welcome Home" by some of the Management staff at Sandals and were offered refreshments immediately (cooling refreshing towels and glasses of champagne) as we were expertly checked in as we sipped our champagne. We were swiftly guided to our room, this was our one and only disappointment as they were building another block of river suites immediately outside our room, it was noisy and the builder were still on site after 7 pm. However we only spent one night in this room after stating we were to be at Sandals for 14 night and this was to be for our wedding. We were shown another room which was very satisfactory and our belongings were moved while we were out during the day enjoying our 1st day of ourSandals experience. We were met by our Wedding Co-ordinator Michel to confirm our arrangements, she was very professional and we didn't see her again until our wedding day when she delivered flowers to our room and accompanied me to the ocean view gazebo where we were married by the Rev Ramsay. All of the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and they made a point of remembering your name and took a genuine interest in you and made you feel very special. To mention a few Kenesha who was a supervisor in the Sundowner Restaurant (now a butler - well done!!), the two D's causing mayhem in the 4C's restaurant, the photographers Fabien(Fozzydog), O'Neill and Vinton always smiling despite their very long days, Romaine in the shop always keen to sell offers of the day (Blue Mountain Coffee always at 15% off). The food at all of the restaurants was excellent, the 4C's serving seafood and pasta was one of our favourites, nice location directly overlooking the ocean. Entertainment team was excellent, we enjoyed our last evening on the beach barbeque, with steel band and the fire eating limbo dancing guy. We're British and we like to talk about weather, what we found out about Negril is that it was red hot in the morning, but the clouds quickly formed on the mountains around midday but it was a welcome relief some days. Beautiful clean white sand beaches, they worked hard to keep it pristine and the sea was lovely and warm for a swim (watch out for the stingrays). Our wedding day was absolutely perfect, I opted for a bit of pampering at the Red Lane Spa, well worth it! Overall this resort is excellent and is worth every penny. We will definitiely be back to visit our new friends in Jamaica ! - YEAH MON !!

When we left for Jamaica on July 28th, it was a long flight - over 20 plus hours of travel but we were greeted in Sandals negril with ice cold towels and a drink.. Already you had me , hook line an sinker.
We were taken to the Conceirge area, and then guided to have something to eat in the Bayside restaurant. Scott was already in heaven.... We were then taken on a tour and then to our room. I loved it. No it wasn't like the website, but hey that's what you expect. We walked out of our doors, and there was the beach, the ocean. WOW....
From that moment on, we relaxed, relaxed and relaxed... We made great friends Dana and Randy and we Mike and Berkley, we had a lot of fun. We didn't go in the pool very much, because honestly we were there for the beach. The staff was so amazing. The bar guys Jason and Leroy, the Photographer's O'neal andDayna and many others, all the restaurant staff was so good. The Food.. Scott was in his heaven, food, food, more food. And Jerk Chicken and Jerk Beef...
The entertainment. I don't think I met one Jamaican that wasn't talented. The steel drum band, holy!!! talented.!!
Even the security guys Chris and gang, they are all so nice.
If you take the time to talk to them, they talk to you.
Yes there are sellers on the beach, from clothing to ANYTHING you want, but what do you expect, your in Jamaica..
just overcome everything you heard, and don't forget, the job of any resort or any hotel is to UPSELL. so if you think your room or the whole resort will be like it is in pictures, you are in a dream! nothing is like that. Your vacation and your experience is what you make it, not what the resort presents to you. And for everyone complaining about their rooms. Besides the obvious what the heck are you doing in your room all the time while your in Jamaica.
We loved it, we were sad to come home, and can't wait to go back, maybe in 09. Jamaican people are so friendly, so hospitaple. Just get used to saying "YA MON, and NO MON".
Also get used to their motto is "Slow, Slower, and even more slow". But hey you are on vacation.
Just sit back, enjoy the sunset, enjoy the pampering. and don't forget this is a third world country. they make $50.00/wk US and work 12 hours per day 6-7 days per week. and they served the heck of you. Also remember you will get sold stuff, from the pictures, which Are worth it. $16.95 for one photo. to the spa, which we also did and was so good!!!!
just enjoy your holiday. It's the best place on earth.

“Best Honeymoon!”

Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa

Sandals Negril is the most perfect place for Honeymooners! We just returned from our Honeymoon at Sandals Negril and already we are trying to figure out how to go back! The view from our room was absolutely breathtaking! We loved sitting out on our private veranda at night looking at the ocean! The ocean is so gorgeous! So warm and so crystal clear blue! We didn't want to get out! The pools at Sandals are beautiful too! We loved the main pool and that it's open 24 hours! The staff at Sandals is Fabulous! Our Housekeeper Keelene was the best! She amazed us with how she would have our room looking so pretty morning and night! The service at the front desk was wonderful and the activity desk service was impeccable! We loved our excursion to the Famous Rick's Cafe where we saw cliff diver's dive off the beautiful cliffs and had a delicious dinner at the same time! We also enjoyed the shopping trip and the trip to the straw market and Margaritaville! The best Excursion ever though was going on the Riverwalk at the Mayfield River in the tropical rain forest of Jamaica! We had the BEST guides ever..Comfy and Tony and they took such excellent care of us making sure everyone was safe in the river and making sure everyone was having a great time! We were also surprised to see that a camera man came with us we could purchase a dvd and a cd with pictures of our adventure which we did and we are so glad we did! Mayfield River has to be one of the most Beautiful places in the world! The fresh spring mineral water was so refeshing and healing! We def. are planning on going back there someday!
The activities at Sandals were a lot of fun! We love how they involved the guests in the shows! One night there was even an Elvis Impersonator and he sang our Wedding song, "Can't help Falling Inlove" to us as we danced onstage! My husband also participated in various games on stage such as the Red Stripe Beer contest where the husbands had to go into the audience and find something to open the beer bottle with and get a straw and go back on the stage and drink it on their knees. He was the 2nd back on the stage and opened up the beer bottle so fast all by just using the side of a fork! After that contest, there was a game of musical legs where the women had to stand in a circle holding hands with their legs spread out as the men danced around and when the music stopped, the men had to dash under their legs. My husband came in 3rd. It was all in good fun. : )
The food at Sandals is Incredible especially at Bayside! We ate there every morning! Everything you can imagine is there! They even have eggs to order the way you love them and they are just so delicious! We loved how we could see the snowy egrots each morning! We truly enjoyed our private dinner for 2 on the Beach! Def. worth the price! We had it on the Beach gazebo and it was so Romantic! Our own private butler for the evening, Wilton was Wonderful and so accommodating! We had candlelight and soft romantic music just as we had requested and it was absolutely exquisite! We highly recommend it!
We loved the Free watersports available at Sandals! We enjoyed our snorkeling trip and our guide was so much fun and so helpful! we loved using the kayak and we tried our hand at sailing the Hobie Cat and my husband is a Great Hobie cat captain! We just had the Most Amazing time! Everyone was so nice and so incredibly helpful!
Thank you Sandals for making our Dream Honeymoon a Reality! : )

“Amazing Honeymoon”

Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa

Aug 14, 2008
3/3 found this review helpful

Going in to this vacation, I had no idea what to expect. I had been reading up on the reviews and found this sandals resort to be one of the better ones by the reviews. When it got closer to the time for us to leave, I started reading negative reviews, which made me very nervous, but I tried to go in with open eyes. Overall it was wonderful though.
When we got in to the airport everyone was excellent about helping you find where you need to be. We only waited in the sandals lounge for about 20 minutes before be boarded our shuttle for Negril. Keep in mind the people carrying your luggage, and shuttling you to the resort DO NOT work for sandals, and they do expect you to give them a tip. Our ride was about an hour and a half to the resort. We stopped half way there for a bathroom break and drinks. Some people complained about the length of the trip, but I enjoyed seeing how people live and work, on our drive out. Also beware people do drive on the opposite side of there road as the US and they are also VERY crazy drivers. Lots of close calls.
Once we got to the resort we were greeted and given a rum punch and a cool wet towel. Someone brought our luggage to our room while someone else walked us to our room and showed us around. When we got to our room I was dissapointed at first. Nothing like the pictures on the internet, but over all we spent very little time in our room so it did not matter. It was clean, just very small. The same day we got there we did attend the orientation, which I liked. One of the playmakers take you around the whole resort show you where everything is, which made me a lot more comfortable.
We spent a lot of time on the beach, which was about 20 yards from our room which was very convenient. The pool was great too. There were three different pools, one with a swim up bar. There are a ton of activites to do. Tubeing, wakeboarding, water sking, small sail boats to take out, kayaks, snorkling, scuba diving (if you are certified) pool tables, chess boards, shuffle boards, never a dull moment. There is great entertainment every night. I loved the steel drums. The food was great, it did get old after a week, but it was good. You never went hungry. Our favorite was the 4c's and kimonos. Great food everywhere though. The one thing that was hard to get used to was there are certain hours at each restaurant. There are also tours outside of the resort. We did not do any of those, because there was plenty to do at the resort. but there are tour guides to help with all of those tours. The one thing we did do was went to margaritaville. It was fun, but nothing too exciting. The resort provides free shuttle to there too. It is nice, because it is up to you to determine how much or how little you want to do on your vacation. The biggest thing that stood out to me is how amazing the people are who work at the resort. Very friendly, very helpful, they treat everyone the same, and make you feel right at home. It defietely made us feel way more comfortable.
Over all our honeymoon was amazing, and I could not ask for more. If you have any questions I will be more then happy to help you out. Take Care and happy travels!!!!!

“Makes for a beautiful wedding”

Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa

Aug 14, 2008

We booked a 6 night stay at Sandals Negril for our wedding ceremony and honeymoon = Weddingmoon. We signed up online through sandals.com and were contacted by telephone by a wedding consultant. I was able to book the time of the ceremony, choice of flowers cake etc. depending on package. We did the basic package because we were not having any guests. The wedding consultant can be hard to get a hold of so when you do ASK ASK ASK to get all the info you need. We did not receive any paper tickets or brochures after booking the reservation. We flew from Dallas to Miami which took 2.45 hours then flew from Miami to Montego Bay which took about 1.45 hours. Not bad. Once we arrivce at MBJ airport we had to go through a pretty looong ling for customers and then we were immediately put on a little bus to take us to our resort. The drive from MBJ to Negril took about 1.5 hours. The scenery was beautiful but the living conditions were pretty poor. We did not leave the resort during our stay.

We had an ocean view room on the third floor of the main building. The view was GORGEOUS and the room was simple and clean. Flat screen TV, mini-bar stocked with water and sodas, cofee maker, hair dryer, telephone etc.

It rained about once a day for a few minutes but once it went away it was beautiful again.

The wedding ceremony was fast about 15 minutes and they told us exactly where to stand, where to look, when to smile. If you don't like being ordered around then I wouldn't suggest this :-) Even though we did not pay for a picture package they took pictures of us after the ceremony at various locations and they were available for $20 a photo. We paid for the DVD which was excellent and definitely worth the high price tag. You can review the DVD at the end of your stay and take it home with you, or at least we did.

The food was pretty good, don't really remember anything out of this world but I liked the breakfast buffet and the beach grill. The staff were very positive and out going. We paid for a private 1 hour boat cruise which was AMAZING. It ended up being over 2 hours and we had a private driver, champagne, food etc. I would highly recommend doing the private cruise on the mastercraft boat--the view and sites area totally awesome. We never would have seen it without the trip. The cruise can be arranged with your wedding consultant. They even decorated the boat--totally sweet.

They arrange for a little bus to come get you to take you back to the airport and they help you with your bags. Make sure to save a few dollars to tip the driver and bag people. I wouldn't bother exchanging money, everyone took US dollars.

Contact me for any other info I forgot to mention
