I'll be completely honest in this review. Just my opinion.

Couples lounge at the airport was nice and relaxing. Bartender was really nice. :)

From Mobay airport it took about 1.5 hours. Stopped once for about 15 minutes. GREAT jerk chicken!

Arrived and were greeted with cold towels and champagne. Very nice. Lobby was just as pictured.

OVERAL RESORT: Inside the resort was quite nice. The outside could use some updating. Many people have mentioned that it's supposed to have a rustic look.....but it could still be updated. The grounds were kept very nice. Our room overlooked the pond.

ROOMS: 7209 was our room. Overlooked the pond. Was oceanview and on the 2nd floor. I had read about it already and knew that it was partial oceanview. You can see the ocean from afar....not at all close though. The room was ok, but nothing fancy. Again, could definitely use some updating. Loved the fresh flowers on the bed with the towel animals/designs. It was clean and the bed was comfy. Husband was upset because there were no extra outlets in the bathroom....but he got over it. :) Nice size balcony. Mini bar was decent. Plenty of mixers and beer...not red stripe though..I forget the name.

FOOD: Otaheite was very nice. Food was good. Ate there twice. MAKE RESERVATIONS! Got to sit with 2 couples we didn't know and had a blast chatting. Lychee was also very nice. No reservations required. The buffets were good...nothing to write home about...but good. I really enjoyed the breakfast though from the buffets. The fancy restaurantswere better than most all inclusives but the buffets were pretty much average. BTW- we are food 'snobs' and were quite pleased....so to most people, the food would be superb! :)

ACTIVITIES: Tried to go on the catamaram cruise but waited to late to book and it was full. Book early as I hear it was GREAT! Piano bar dance night was not really a 'happening' spot but an ok place to have a little dance after a few drinks.

BEACH: If I went back to this resort, the beach would be the reason why. Plenty of shaded areas. Soft sand. VERY calm water! You can go far out and the water is only to your waist. Even if you don't swim or aren't a strong swimmer you'll LOVE this! Taking the mats out and floating....HEAVEN! Water was clear and clean. Saw a couple fish, and urchin and a crab. :) Also loved the red flag service o nthe beach. Took about 5 minutes to get a new drink. Hammocks were all around. Never had to wait for towels or worry about finding a good seat.

BARS: Bartenders made great drinks....not weak. Try a Bob Marley. Interesting! ;) Loved the "Come Again's'. Loved the 'Miami Vices'. Premium liquors. Red stripe and several other beers served. The pool bar is a good place to hang out. Camille at the 'buffet' bar was a sweetheart!

SHOWS: They were your average AI shows. Really enjoyed a guys who sang one night.

POOL: Very nice, although we were only in the small part that the bar was at.

STAFF: Everyone was very nice and accommodating! They did a great job!

SPA: It was ok....nothing special. The massage itself was good but the atmosphere wasn't nearly as good as others I've been to. It was in an open air type room. We had the couples massage. It began to pour down raining outside so it was kinda cool to have a massage and hear the rain.

Overall, we had a good vacation. Before going, based on others reviews, I thought this was going to be the place we return to year after year. But to us, it wasn't 'home' like many have said. Don't get me wrong, it was nice....but we probably won't return. I will still dream about the beach though and hope to find another like it in our future travels because it was amazing! If you are going, you will enjoy it I'm sure. Just don't expect a luxurious resort....expect good food, great beach, good service and great drinks, and great people!

Enjoy!

My husband and I have just returned from an amazing holiday at Couples Negril. We stayed for 2 weeks and had such a fantastic time. Having read many reviews before we went we had a number of high expectations and we were not disappointed. We were greeted at the airport in the Couples lounge. This is where the excellent customer service started and it didn't finish until we left. Cold beer and a friendly chat with the barman made us feel relaxed and at ease. Our bags were taken care of and we were transfered to our hotel immediately. In fact I don't remember lifting my suitcase at all whilst we were under Couples' care. The porters did all the hard work. On arrival, we were greeted with a glass of champayne and a cold towel. A lovely touch. Our room was spacious and spotlessley clean. Rooms were cleaned every day religiously and there was also a turn down service at night. There was never a shortage of towels. We spent our 2 weeks enjoying the beach and the crystal clear, balmy sea. The weather was not fantastic. Our first week it rained and thundered every afternoon but we soon realised that an early start to our day meant we could sunbath for a good 5 hours before the rains came at which point we were ready to come in anyway. Our second week was much dryer, some cloud, but really very hot and humid.
There was always something to do at the hotel, volleyball, tennis, water sports, aerobics, gym.... You could be as active or as lazy as you pleased. The spa treatments were lovely but a little expensive. I had a facial and we had a massage together in the tree house. That was very peaceful and relaxing.
The food on offer was outstanding. Something for everyone's pallett. We had a tour of the kitchens by the head chef who was very enthusiastic and informative. Virtually everything is made on site. I would highly recommend it. He even gave us some recipes for the jerk chicken ( a must when you visit Jamaica). I particularly loved the danish pastries at breakfast and the hand made deserts at lunch and dinner time. You have to see it to believe it.
We did not venture out of the complex much. Just a shopping trip run by the hotel and their catamaran trip to Pirates Cove. My husband went fishing and thoroughly enjoyed himself. He hooked a marlin but sadly it got away. There are many excursions on offer at a premium and many people went on them. We heard mixed reviews.
We met lots of lovely people. Many were repeat visitors. A reflection of how popular the hotel has become. We also spoke to a couple who stayed at Couples Swept Away. They were disappointed at the selection of food on offer. The same cannot be said of Couples Negril.
Overall, a fantastic 2 weeks.

“What happened after 13 Months”

Couples Negril

We spent out 25th anniversary at Couples Negril back in June, 2007 and loved it so much we decided to try and make it a yearly trip. Please keep in mind, we have traveled extensivly all over the world for both business and pleasure and have stayed at just about every type of resort out there. In June 2007 we spent the best 11 days at CN just relaxing, meeting wonderful people, both other guests and employees amd came home refreshed!
What a difference a year makes, this trip we spent 9 days at CN and were not sure we were at the same place. Although a large portion of the staff remained the same the excitement that they always showed and the fun they used to have was gone. Yes, some were great just as before but it just seemed like they didn't want to be there etc.
The grounds are still kept up to the highest standards and the beach...Oh the beach...is stil one of the our favorites anywhere!
The rooms and housekeeping seemed to be on the same par as last year but the rooms could stand to have a little $$ spent on them. The beds really need to be replaced and the other decor should be updated. The min-fridge and flat screen TV we the same as last year and are both nice touches.
The food and drinks were still very good!
Please Couples, do some updates to bring this resort back to your high standards like you are with Couple TI.

If you are thinking of visiting Couples Negril, book it now!!! We had the most fantastic honeymoon. Couples is completely tailored to you and your significant other. I never quite understood why people would want to continuously visit one location when there is a whole world of places to see, but after being at Couples Negril for 15 minutes I understood why people go back. We can’t wait to go back!!

The service is fantastic. Every single employee is wonderful and really goes the extra mile to make you satisfied. We even got a complementary room upgrade to one of their best top suites just for being on our honeymoon (and, we paid for one of the lower-middle suite classifications!).

Food & Drinks: The food and drinks are wonderful! I’m an extremely picky eater and I always had something to eat, and it was always fantastic. They told us when we checked in that there is always something to eat and always something to drink, and that is completely true! The Heliconia grill stays open overnight, and the Piano Bar doesn’t close until the last guest leaves. You really do have to try all 4 places to eat. Otaheite is true gourmet dining. We couldn’t believe the wonderful meal we got there because it would have cost a fortune in the states. Make a reservation for 2 if you can, you’ll sit in a loveseat couch next to each other…how romantic! We loved the Lychee restaurant, ate there 2 nights and the Lychee martini is good. Also, take advantage of the in-room breakfast at least once. At the Cassava Terrace make sure you hit the omelet and smoothie bars for breakfast! Drinks are strong! Our favorite was the Miami Vice. And, you have to try the Bob Marley…you are on vacation!!

Room: so comfortable! They do a great job of cleaning your room everyday, and the nightly turndown service is an added bonus. We really didn’t spend a lot of time there though.

Beach & Ocean & Pool: SO beautiful!! The water is a pretty teal blue and so clear. We went out to a spot 30 feet deep on the Catamaran cruise and you could see the bottom. The sand is beautiful and the beach and ocean are so smooth. There is always a chair, raft, room in the pool, anything you need! The red flag service at the beach is an added bonus.

Activities: you must go on the Catamaran cruise and the glass bottom boat tour. It was so much fun, and so pretty!! And, the complementary his/her massage for being on our honeymoon was amazing…best massage ever!

I have absolutely nothing to say negative, everything was positive. The bus ride was fun, it was a great way to see the country. We met a lot of great people. Everyone in Jamaica is SO friendly, and it is safe. We never felt unsafe once. One of our favorite things was lying in the hammock under the palm trees and stars at night on the ocean.

I could go on forever, if you have any specific questions please feel free to contact me!

My husband and I returned from Couples Negril with smiles on our faces and loosened waist bands. We booked our honeymoon here after reading a few mixed reviews between this resort and Couples Swept Away. We couldn't have been happier with our selection. From the time you set foot in the resort, you are overwhelmed with relaxation and friendliness. The staff could not have been more helpful and we can't even begin to describe how wonderful the food was. The only regret we have about our whole experience was that we didn't stay longer! There are floaties on every lounge chair, at the pool or beach, so grab a drink and relax away! The drinks were outstanding, the service was second to none and the food, well, incredible. A fabulous place to stay in a wonderful atmosphere. We couldn't be happier. We met many other honeymooners like ourselves who were as pleased as we were. We also met several couples who were returning for their second and even third trips within short periods of time-- a true test of how wonderful this resort is. Booking our honeymoon massages was simple and a true indulgence. Nothing like being massaged on the beach with waves crashing in the background. Champagne and a cool towel awaited us upon check-in and even though we arrived at the resort around 9am (our flight landed in Montego Bay before 7am), our room was ready within an hour of our arrival. The afternoon rain showers were a nice excuse to nap! The weather was perfect, the service was perfect, the food was perfect (wow, coul the Lychee restaurant get ANY better??!), and our whole trip was perfect. Book your trip without hesitation and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
