I'll be completely honest in this review. Just my opinion.
Couples lounge at the airport was nice and relaxing. Bartender was really nice. :)
From Mobay airport it took about 1.5 hours. Stopped once for about 15 minutes. GREAT jerk chicken!
Arrived and were greeted with cold towels and champagne. Very nice. Lobby was just as pictured.
OVERAL RESORT: Inside the resort was quite nice. The outside could use some updating. Many people have mentioned that it's supposed to have a rustic look.....but it could still be updated. The grounds were kept very nice. Our room overlooked the pond.
ROOMS: 7209 was our room. Overlooked the pond. Was oceanview and on the 2nd floor. I had read about it already and knew that it was partial oceanview. You can see the ocean from afar....not at all close though. The room was ok, but nothing fancy. Again, could definitely use some updating. Loved the fresh flowers on the bed with the towel animals/designs. It was clean and the bed was comfy. Husband was upset because there were no extra outlets in the bathroom....but he got over it. :) Nice size balcony. Mini bar was decent. Plenty of mixers and beer...not red stripe though..I forget the name.
FOOD: Otaheite was very nice. Food was good. Ate there twice. MAKE RESERVATIONS! Got to sit with 2 couples we didn't know and had a blast chatting. Lychee was also very nice. No reservations required. The buffets were good...nothing to write home about...but good. I really enjoyed the breakfast though from the buffets. The fancy restaurantswere better than most all inclusives but the buffets were pretty much average. BTW- we are food 'snobs' and were quite pleased....so to most people, the food would be superb! :)
ACTIVITIES: Tried to go on the catamaram cruise but waited to late to book and it was full. Book early as I hear it was GREAT! Piano bar dance night was not really a 'happening' spot but an ok place to have a little dance after a few drinks.
BEACH: If I went back to this resort, the beach would be the reason why. Plenty of shaded areas. Soft sand. VERY calm water! You can go far out and the water is only to your waist. Even if you don't swim or aren't a strong swimmer you'll LOVE this! Taking the mats out and floating....HEAVEN! Water was clear and clean. Saw a couple fish, and urchin and a crab. :) Also loved the red flag service o nthe beach. Took about 5 minutes to get a new drink. Hammocks were all around. Never had to wait for towels or worry about finding a good seat.
BARS: Bartenders made great drinks....not weak. Try a Bob Marley. Interesting! ;) Loved the "Come Again's'. Loved the 'Miami Vices'. Premium liquors. Red stripe and several other beers served. The pool bar is a good place to hang out. Camille at the 'buffet' bar was a sweetheart!
SHOWS: They were your average AI shows. Really enjoyed a guys who sang one night.
POOL: Very nice, although we were only in the small part that the bar was at.
STAFF: Everyone was very nice and accommodating! They did a great job!
SPA: It was ok....nothing special. The massage itself was good but the atmosphere wasn't nearly as good as others I've been to. It was in an open air type room. We had the couples massage. It began to pour down raining outside so it was kinda cool to have a massage and hear the rain.
Overall, we had a good vacation. Before going, based on others reviews, I thought this was going to be the place we return to year after year. But to us, it wasn't 'home' like many have said. Don't get me wrong, it was nice....but we probably won't return. I will still dream about the beach though and hope to find another like it in our future travels because it was amazing! If you are going, you will enjoy it I'm sure. Just don't expect a luxurious resort....expect good food, great beach, good service and great drinks, and great people!
Enjoy!
