Had a one night stay prior to joining Cruise Ship. Hotel is well located on Broadway close to Horton PLaza in one direction and Seaport Village in another. Area is plagued with homeless but they are in the most harmless. Hotel is moden and clean, but public areas are tiny. The reception area, lobby (if there is one) and public... more

On first look, it is quite atttractive. Nice look, friendly and helpful staff and free business center Internet computers. But there are so many problems that I just can't recommend it - even to my worst enemy! First, the rooms are VERY small. The average hotel room is 350 to 550 sq. ft. This hotel's queen rooms are only 207... more

Lovely, well designed hotel in a good location in down-town San Diego in the gaslamp quarter. Staff were professional and helpful. Rooms were cosy but really well furnished and designed. It was everything we wanted for our stay in San Diego and was a good base for travelling around the city with easy access to the trolley and bus routes. more

This looked a nice 'heritage' hotel at first, but we found that the room (which was very good for watching the vagrants on the street corner) quite small and a bit poky. The restaurant was not good and very expensive, lucky there was a good coffee shop next door. Eating out was okay (when we were not being pestered by... more

My 14 year old daughter and I had never been to California so we searched online and booked part of our trip in L.A. and part in San Diego. We absolutely loved the Sofia Hotel. The boutique rooms are very pretty, yes we had a crappy view but who cares you arent in your room for the view, we loved... more

This hotel is not for business travelers - this is a very old school hotel room style - the rooms are extremely small (the bathroom even smaller) - the closet doors can't even open all the way - I feel like I'm in a shoebox. The restaurant is prominently displayed on the website and even at check-in after a long... more

Initially we were impressed however after a 14 hour flight and asking for a quiet room we were put in a room next to the lift and overlooking the air con units and busy Greyhound terminal, went back to reception and were moved. Rooms are tiny but beds v-comfy. House keeping is awful, rooms not made up until 5pm, even... more

My husband and I booked the Sofia Hotel last minute because we were spending a couple of days in San Diego. We didn't know what to expect before we got there, especially knowing it was downtown and seeing all kinds of interesting people hanging around. However, we were surprised and amazed at how nice the hotel was! The rooms are... more

I spent five days in San Diego and I stayed at The Sofia Hotel. I loved the place. I selected the hotel after reading the other reviews, and I tottaly agree with those who gave a favorable opinion about the hotel. It has a great location (in Broadway, very close to Gaslamp Quarter), the rooms are quite nice, the staff... more

This hotel is very well located. Downtown San Diego is on your door step. The Gaslamp Quarter is only a few blocks away which offers a very lively night life for all tastes and ages. The sea front is also a short walk away. Good bus links to all the places you'd want to visit such as San Diego Zoo,... more
