We just got back from shutters and had a lovely time. 3 years ago the enitre hotel was rennovated and the rooms are stunning, they look like they have been decorated by ralph lauren, very classic yet very modern. Nice room, good facilities but small considering the price we paid for a full Ocean view. The staff were courteous but the service was very average - we ended up carrying our own bags to our room when no-one offered to help! Shutters was the first hotel we stayed in, at the beginning of a 2-week holiday in California, and it is still my favourite! It's a beautiful hotel in a stunning location, everything works the staff are very attentive and helpful, but it is very expensive so i suppose it should work. You do feel really pampered and looked after and it is really special but I'm not completly convinced it was worth the expense. more
