This is a real find for those on a modest budget - Iceland, despite the claims is still a relatively expensive place to holiday. Currency fluctuated wildly when we were there and the cost of alcohol (Approximately 7.50GBP for one and a half pints of lager) is hideous. Or for those who have visited our 'charming' capital - London Prices.... more

When the airport bus pulled up outside a karate school, I thought there had been some kind of mistake but no...it was the Hotel Bjork right next door! Looks are deceiving though as this hidden gem has some excellent value for money. First, free internet access at the reception on a PC- don't laugh- this came in useful more than... more

Stayed 4 days at this hotel and for the money couldn't have chose a better one. Arrived at 4 am but was happily greeted and sent up to our red hot (radiator is the full length of the wall and had been on all night), immaculately clean room. Beds were very comfortable with thick duvets and spread. Cable tv with... more

I can't think of any reason why someone would come to Iceland to stay in luxury hotels (unless, perhaps, you're trying to get your money out of Icelandic banks). I suspect that most people, like us, use their Reykjavik hotel to crash at night in between exploring Iceland on daytrips. And if that's your plan, definitely consider the Hotel Bjork.... more

My friend and I spent 02/10/08- 06/10/08 at this hotel in Reykjavik and were very impressed. HOTEL BJORK Room- the only room they had available was a Triple. This was very clean, spacious, airy and warm (when we turned the radiators up!). There were fantastic views of the sea and distant mountains from the room. Good shower (agree with previous... more

This hotel, extremely modern, and beautiful. Classic atmosphere of a Reykjavik accommodation. The view from the porch, and the window is breathtaking, and only a few minutes walk from the busy center of town. A short walk to the harbor, and close to a delicious restaurant that offers free breakfast. If I return to Iceland I would definitely stay at... more

We stayed here for four nights, and couldn't have been happier with the facilities or the staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable (basic furniture, but it's well maintained and not tatty at all), and the adjoining restaurant isn't too pricey considering the things you hear about Icelandic food costs. They also serve the best fish and chips we've ever... more

We visited Hotel Bjork twice in August 2008 and we may recommend it to any traveler. The rooms were clean and well furnished, front desk staff proved to be very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located close to the see and only 10 min. walk from the main shopping street. more

Hotel Bjork worked out perfectly for my stay in Reykjavik last week. I booked my long weekend through Icelandair, and as part of a package deal, was originally booked into Hotel Cabin. However, upon arrival, I was told that they were overbooked, but that Hotel Bjork had a room immediately available and closer to town. I was glad of the... more

Whatever shortcomings Hotel Bjork has (and there are some minor ones), I will forever be grateful that the front desk let me check into my room when I arrived at 7:30 a.m., hours before check-in time. I’d badly needed that five-hour nap! Hotel Bjork is a half-mile walk into the city center. It’s in a rather nondescript section of Reykjavik... more
