Single male traveller in July 08, arrived in the area and the taxi driver said to me to be careful in this area. I thought "Yeah, I'm a big boy.." but after being grabbed by prostitutes and chased down the street by someone trying to sell me drugs, after 2 days of my 7 day stay, I was straight back... more

This "hostal" was MUCH worse than I could have ever imagined! The location may have been "close to" the Gran Via; however, you had to walk down dark, alley-like streets filled with hookers, drug deals being made, suspicious people walking around. The TAXIS don't even want to go there. The police stopped us as soon as we arrived to tell... more

I stayed in the Hotel Laris for 1 night for business in Madrid in May 2008. The hotel is fairly grotty - as mentioned previously, the location for the metro is fine, but there are many prostitutes and drug dealers hanging around. As a single female traveller returning back to the hotel after an evening meal at midnight, it's not... more

My girlfriend got me trip to see a real madrid match and she opted for this hotel by not really reading any reviews. It was only after I found out about the wonderful gift that I went on and looked. I was slightly worried to hear the negative points about the prostitutes & junkies so I braced myself for the... more

As mentioned in earlier reviews, the distance to the Gran Via is a big plus. But, as also mentioned before, returning from your dinner means passing by several prostitues and junkies. Which was probably the only moment of the day we didn't mind some rain, (prostitues and junkies apparently aren't very fond of it either) The rooms were ok, fine... more

As mentioned in the other reviews, location is the best asset of this hotel ... Eventhough it is located in a neighbourhood with "putas", it is very central...the Gran Via ( Shopping, theatres) is right there around the corner ! As a Madrid lover, i really appreciate being so close from the center of this beautiful town. As for the... more

Stayed at Hostal Laris a few days ago.Nothing has changed since 2005 except for more prostitutes and drug-dealers.If you have a room facing the narrow street you can´t open it due to the constant business going on for the whole night.Yes it´s close to Gran Via but there are hundreds of other hostals on the other side of Gran Via.The... more

Location, location, location. This hotel is a few yards (yes, you do have to pass some prostitutes - about three hanging out on a street corner)from the main street in Madrid, near the metro but within walking distance of most things a tourist wants to see in Madrid. The staff were very friendly. The first room they showed us was... more

I stayed at the Hostal Laris with my class in March 2005 for one night. The hotel was situated just one minute walk from the Gran Via, so in that sense it had a very good location. The drawback was that the neighborhood was a rather bad one, with hookers just around the corner. I wouldn't feel to safe walking... more
