The reason this got an OK is that the staff are awesome. Other than that, the hotel looks OK, but it's loud, the breakfast is stale, and there are few amenities close by. One of the best things about the hotel is that it's across the street from Chapters. I'm underwhelmed. more

The Mettera Hotel is as advertised: cool, funky, and comfortable. Great breakfast bar, end-of-day wine bar, functional business center and workout room. A couple of caveats: if it's summer, book a room away from Whyte Avenue, which in the evening becomes a race track for motorcycles, none of which seems to have a muffler. Great hotel. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The room I stayed in is very spacious, quiet, comfortable and clean. The decor and styling of this hotel are excellent. You're right on Whyte and within walking distance to the U of A. This will be at the top of my list next time I come back to Edmonton. more
