This hotel is overpriced in my opinion. If you are into the techno look then this might be for you. If you are into creature comforts and plush surroundings then this is not for you. I did not stay here for more than 15 minutes and I have to say that since I was not happy the hotel let me... more

Stunning property in a great location. We stayed 3 nights and that is probably enough if you only remain within the confines of the hotel. Service is impeccable - as you would expect in one of their properties. Maybe worth packing in some citronella candles or mosquito coils as the hotel only provides repellant. Beware also that service charge is... more

My husband and I were prepared to be wowed, but our stay exceeded our expectations! The rooms are gorgeous and very spacious, the bathroom is beautiful and the outdoor tub is an experience that we thoroughly enjoyed. The rooms are extremely private, we stayed in a deluxe laguna and we felt like we were in our own private villa in... more

This is an ultra-ultra luxury property and feels very stiff. We were torn between staying here and the rosewood but ultimately chose the rosewood and a beachfront room. Curious, we walked from our beachfront room at the Rosewood to dinner at the Mandarin Oriental. (have your butler book it). It is a beautiful brand new property, nicely situated high up... more

We had a wonderful weeks stay.I agree that it may not be up to the levels of service you get in asia but they really do try . My one point is that the hotel should decide who they realy want to attract. The pool area is small and when a young family arrives it destroys the quite relaxed elegance... more

I did not stay in that hotel YET, I wanted to book BUT: for me it's a very strange that on their website you see the price but have to add an extra of: 10% VAT 2% Government fee 15% service charge For me that doesn't make a good "picture" if I state a price on which you have to... more

Did not stay at the Hotel. We had dinner at their main beach restaurant. Nice view and the food was ok. When I got the bill I was shocked how much they charged for premium drinks. $18 plus tip. I felt that was robbery and ruined the event. If you want to charge that kind of money make it known... more

After staying at other Mandarin properties, I knew the Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya had to be something great. I was amazed. I had been following the progress of this property with eager anticipation and once I heard it had officially opened, I absolutely needed to see it for myself. Unfortunately, my schedule in Playa del Carmen did not allow for... more

I just returned with my wife and three teenage children from Paradise. We had undoubtedly the finest 10 days of our lives at the Mandarin in Playa del Carmen. We have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world, particularly some of the finest resort hotels in Asia and we put this hotel at the top of our... more
