My husband and I visited The Tides last weekend. It is a great hotel for couples, the staff is outstanding, very efficient and helpful, our special thanks to Victor for his special attention. The food is very good but really overpriced. We had dinner on the beach which is done all Fridays, great, but the other nights we preferred dinning at Playa. Also... more

I'll start with the positives: The villas are very nice and designed in fine taste The beds are very comfortable The pool is attractive The spa is beautiful Most of the staff is personable The main problem: my wife and I constantly felt we're being swindled for more money. Examples: 1/We needed to finish our vacation a day early, because... more

We just got back from a 3 night stay and have nothing but wonderful things to say. The hotel grounds are amazing and well kept, the staff are courteous, kind and helpful, the villas were just amazing--sparkling clean, great linens, a portable ipod dock/speaker system... I was nervous about some of the former reviews that mentioned construction noise, as I... more

Keeping it simple, the Tides at Riviera Maya is a pretty great place. It was a tough decision deciding where to go in the Riviera Maya area, but we narrowed our destination down to Maroma, The Tides, and Esencia. We chose the Tides in part because of a 30% discount on the room rate and spa treatments and were glad... more

The hotel was incredible, the food was expensive but worth every peso and everyone that worked at the hotel was extremely kind and helpfull. This was a dream vacation of laying on the beach in the cabana's, watching the pure blue water and having someone get us whatever we wanted; everything from Coco Locos to nachos to fresh ceviche. more

I cannot say enough about this jungley beach paradise. We spent the second half of our honeymoon at The Tides (we left a highly-rated resort down the beach in Playacar early - too resort-ey and crowded, and the pool scene was trashy), and we promised ourselves every night we spent sipping Pacifico and Modelo Negro by the beach that we'd... more

I had a delightful 5 day stay at the Tides from 8/4 – 8/9. It was my second visit within a year. I was concerned that often the second visit anywhere isn’t as good as the first. Well in this case, I was ever so pleasantly surprised that this visit was all the more special. The staff all remembered me... more

My husband and i just returned from a 5 day stay at the Tides. i would first like to comment o a few things that have not been on pervious reviews. I booked a royal suite, which basically means that you pay extra for treats to be brought to your room. This included, over the stay to be: 2 straw... more

What a beautiful, romantic place! We spent the July 4th weekend here and really enjoyed most of our stay. However, I strongly disagree with the last reviewer who remarked that "the construction noise is not an issue". It was a major issue for us, as our villa was at the very back of the property and very close to the... more
