This museum is accesible from Glouster Street, CW through the Mental Hospital building and exhibit. You may not bring in bags and the like, but stiorage is provided. This is an amazing collection of art for the young and old. The collection is more approachable, ecclectic, funny than what one finds in a tradition "art museum". My son's favorite was the large wooden hippo that played the song "Animal Crackers in My Soup". The museum also offers many art project times for kids to produce their own folk... more
We did not have time to do this properly. We ran in to see the building in which it is housed...the old mental hospital...before running back for an evening activity. It was at the end of our trip. We were so disappointed that we didn't have more days. Our kids (8 and 12) also were disappointed. Neat stuff! more
Our family vacationed in Williamsburg right after Christmas. We visited the Rockefeller house and museum, and left knowing that the price of the ticket for entrance was more than worth it! The traveling exhibit, "The Throne," a work of art by James Hampton, was worth the trip to the Folk Art Center, and I highly recommend seeing this incredible display. No words can describe it!
